The Labletter, an annual journal of art and literature, has its roots in the Oregon Lab, the name given to a group of artists and their annual (or near annual) gathering. First published in 1998, The Labletter presented samples of the work of these writers, photographers, filmmakers, actors, painters, and musicians, and artists closely associated with them. In a typical year, about twenty-five copies would have been made and distributed. Beginning with the 2009 edition, the magazine expanded to include the work of a much wider body of artists and to distribute the work to a much wider public.

This year, several new features have been added to the magazine. In the
Monthly Notes series, a sample of work--a short piece of prose or a poem, an image--is emailed once a month to people on our email list. SNAP is a web feature where podcasts of interviews with artists will be presented on a regular basis. A new interview should be posted about once every three months. Videos will present...videos. A series of four short videos will be posted over the course of the year.

We invite you to browse the work on this site and encourage you to join our email list if you'd like to be informed when new work is posted. We also encourage artists and writers to submit work where the opportunity is made available.
